Re: Rear Glass 64 Polara 2dr hdtp

A friend ( retired auto body repair) helped me take out my Windshield without cutting thre gasket. He said to lay it flat and support the windshild in several places to keep it from bowing or breaking . I would think upright on bottom edge would be ok, but I never asked him..............................MPO

I had this same problem when I stipped a 65 Coronet 5 years ago. Took
all the glass out, layed a blanket on the trunk and layed the wihshield
on the blanket. 3 days later went out the winshield was broken down the
middle, just from it's own weight. Someone told me I should have stood
it on it's bottom edge standing up so there would be no weight on the
curve. Live and learn, but I hate to lose a $200 spare winshield to lear
that!

I was able to remove my rear glass by myself without breaking it. Then
with it sitting wrapped in a blanket on supports, all by it's
lonesome... Exploded into 40,000 pieces. My guess is after 40+ years
under tension when it was out it just released...

I haven't looked for a new one yet, but they can be found...

Does anyone have a source for the rear glass for my Dodge?

Can the rear glass come out easy or do they tend to break?

I have heard both, but would like to remove both front and rear glass
before painting

I have tried some salvage yard. Front is available but can't find rear.

Should glass guy be able to get it out? Or would you not take a chance
unless you has a replacement?

Thanks

Has anyone re-chromed and repainted their console/shifter top plate for
'64-'65 B-bodies console?

I had my re-chromed and considering next steps for etching primer,
filler primer.

The metal surface under all the original paint is much rougher than I
thought!

Thanks,Doug in Seattle
