I remember going to Raceway Park with the Ed Martin Tunderbolt crew in 1964 thinking it was the fastest car on the planet until I watched Roger Lindamood in Color Me Gone just smoke every one by 5 to 6 car lengths.
I think that was probably when Chrysler started using the Hemi in the SS cars. I remember a perimeter wall around the car to keep people from seeing the motor.  That was the day I became a Mopar fan. I still can hear that 727 sounding like 2 2x4's slapping together each time it shifted.
There is a reason they call it Nostalgia......
