I have the Harbor Freight version of this and it works well. Just don't OVER tighten it or you'll break it in half. Crank it down pretty good, then just step back and wait. If it doesn't pop after a few minutes (and it will scare teh crap out of you when it does) just heat the spindle a little...it will go, and it beats (pun intended) beating the crap out of your ball joint or spindle.
