I like the glass hood option.  Can get that Hemi SS look that's good and loose weight at the same time.
 
Pulling the Heater stuff makes sense, too. The spacer's been recommeded for both heat and HP.  I'll have to make sure I've got room.  Of curse, if I put on a glass hood, not an issue.

The hood on my '64 Dodge weighs 80lbs. I think my spare tire was about 35lbs and the back seat was around 60lbs. Also the heater was about 20lbs.. I do have the numbers written down somewhere??? I took all of these off or out and it picked me up at least .1sec in the 1/8th. Also running the 1&3/8" wood spacers was a great boon as it lowered the carb bowl temp by 70deg!!!! That has to be beneficial.

Also I changed from the 255/60R15 rear tires to some 215/60R14 Drag TA's. That was at least a .1sec upgrade. An easy way to change the effective gear ratio. I just run them at the track and swap out for my street tires on the road. They are also much lighter than the street tires. Maybe that's overkill for the 1/4 mile but sure great for the 1/8th!

The lower trans gear sounds like a great idea to me too.

I'm already running a near 550 lift Comp Cam and think that will not change.

60 foots are in the 1.73-1.74 and it looks a little sluggish off the line. (see
"Don Gallimore at Pinks All Out" on YouTube) The rear's a 4.10. Maybe a 4.56
with the existing 4100rpm flash stall converter might do the trick. The 9" tires
are not stressed now so I think they can handle the additional torque
multiplication. It's a Dana 60 so it's not a low cost changeover. Could fixed
one of my 8 3/4 units - destroyed a good number of them in my 4 speed days - so
I've got a lot of parts. That'll cut another 50# off, too. Can it take the load?
That'll cost me less that $500.


Anyone care to offer some suggestions? Thanks in advance.
