Re: Plugged Water Jackets in Heads ?!

Check to see if there are drain plugs or petcock's below the freeze
plugs. That will allow even more
 acsess to the water jackets.

I do not ike the way blocks are cleaned these days. Oh yes, they will
get the grease off, but not the rust inside
the block. Even if boiled , cause the EPA has made it very expensive
to include the chemicals that dissolve rust.
After the "clean" block is assembled and the engine is run a few
weeks, That is a P poor time to find out the shop
doesn't get the water jacket rust out. There are still a few shops
that take out the rust. Ask the shop specifically if
they get ALL the caked on rust off or if merely flushed
out. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,MO

Chrysler used a higher nickel content alloy in their cast iron and all the V-8s tended to rust more heavily internally than the competition engines. I have pulled numerous transmissions over the years to replace the plugs on the back of the block-what a pain! Of course routine cooling system flushing will prevent the trouble but not many people fix stuff until they can't use the car!
