Re: Cragar SS rims

Dodger we're to old to be difficult, but glad we're old enough to have these conversations. If we were sitting in our local coffee shop we'd be having the same conversation, winner buys the coffee.

Looking over the data sheets, I have the same one, (A guide to the Chrysler 8 3/4 rearend) I think we are talking about the same thing. A 64' B-body housing 2404271 is 55 5/8" flange to flange. (This is a measure of the bare housing, with brake backing plates removed, from the outside of the flange across to the outside of the other flange).

The drum to drum distance is stated to be 59 1/2", for a total of 3 7/8". If my math is correct this is 1 15/16" on each side. That is the distance from the housing flange to the outside of the brake drum. I think I'm explaining it correctly as I read the guide.....Nick

not trying to be difficult or cause argument, just trying to find out what is correct, here is some info that I have taken out of the tech area of the 62-65 site, I can not swear to the accuracy of it

64 Max Wedge 53-1/4″

2404271 64 B-body except Max Wedge. 55-5/8″ (est) 1/8″ – 1/4″ narrower than 2070270 (fullsize Chrysler) housing. axle length 31-1/2″ overall.
2404143 65 B-body 54-1/2″ uses axle 2404223
2643409 66-67 B-body 54-1/4″
2852838 68-69 B-body 54-15/16″ same as 1970 B-body, 1/32″ difference
3432295 70 B-body 54-29/32″ same as 1968-69 B-body, 1/32″ difference
3507502 71-73 B-body 57-47/64″

Dodger,

This is what I've always had listed as Drum to Drum measurement on my 63', 58 1/2". Wheel Track I have listed as 59.2". I can bend a little for you if this information is not correct since I copied it from text years ago, but someone else will have to out to the barn to check cause it's to cold for these old bones today.

Kevin, Crager SS wheels will look great.

these measurements sound more like wheel tract ,,,,,,flange to flange should be much shorter, say 5-6 inches shorter

Drum to Drum is what you have to measure;

1962 - 1963 B-body - 58 1/2"

1964 - 1967 B-body - 59 1/2"

1968 - 1970 B-body - 60 1/8"
