Here's my recent experience.  I have a 440 which was rebuilt about 2000 miles ago.  I used a KB hypereutectic piston, I think the p/n is 230.  These are flat top and the pin height brings them up to flush with the deck.  I'm using 906 heads, so 88 cc's.  The comp. should be @ 9.5.  With this set up I had a detonation problem last summer and broke a piston.  I run the highest octane pump gas I can get, usually 92 octane.  But I suspect I got something that was a bit sub-standard.

Im looking for recommendations on piston choices and camshafts for the 440 MW Crossram motor I am currently building.

I have 2 sets of TRW pistons....11.5 pop ups and flat tops.  I am using MP repro MW heads with the bolt on rocker stands and 4 bolt VC's.  Anyone know the chamber size of these heads?  They were new about 10 years ago and then discontinued, not sure why.

Anyway will there be a big difference in street/strip driving between the  two pistons?  I would like to use pump gas, maybe with a 5 gallon shot of race gas to a full tank of 92 octane. Will this be enough to run the 11.5/1 pistons?

Which cam are you guys using or recommending? Will it work with either piston choice?

Again, thanks in advance.
