The voltage regulator is often bad if both the fuel and temp gauges are not working. The gauge moves according to the amount of resistance. My notes claim 10 ohms resistance gives a "Hot" reading, for example, while 20 ohms would be about in the middle between C and H. Don't leave the ground on long, just enough to see the gauge move. If it moves there is a good gauge and regulator. Have you tested the sending unit? If it is defective the gauge won't move. Thanks, Gary H. > Gary - fuel gauge is OK.
