Elite Veteran Posts: 888 Location: Peoples Republic of Oregon | During a search for a customer, I ran across these B-RB cams at Crower... http://www.crower.com/camshafts.html?cat=98&price=1%2C100 The specs look like they would be good replacements for many oem cams during a 'stock' rebuild. You will never get a better price!

Expert Posts: 3780 Location: NorCal | If I needed a cam with those specs I'd jump on it. The reduced price reflects a "get rid of 'em" approach, nothing to do with the quality.

Expert Posts: 2519 Location: central Illinois | If you want a totally stock rebuild, sure, save $100. But like Shep said, modern cams with similar specs are much better.

Rodger & Gabby COS Unless I missed something, all B&RB cams are the same except for the 3-bolt jobs. As to some of the other comments...You have a 50 year-old engine but yet you scoff at a 5 year old cam design??? Unless you have changed to some kind of whiz-bang computer controlled contraption these cams are far better than most of the stock pieces that commonly get tossed during a rebuild. In my book Crower is top shelf!

Expert Posts: 1506 Location: Colo Spgs | Gary Only looking at BB/ RB Cam Spec's in The Factory Service Manuals you will see what was to become an 1966 High Performance only Cam Shaft with twin Snorles & Dual Exhaust became the Standard Cam Shaft by 1968 used by engines that had one muffler and etc. The 390 Pounds of Torque peaks out at 2800 RPM's ( 1965 to 1968 2 bbl 383 Data )( which is above what most drive at anyway). At NAPA they know it as CS-327. This spec'd Cam Shaft is also used for any Tow Package optioned car starting in 1967. Now that you have this part you can use it to help you decide. What year of engine and etc is the 383 ? Rodger & Gabby COS

Expert Posts: 3402 Location: Chestertown, NY ( near Lake George) | wayfarer - 2012-11-05 8:20 PM I am not referring to 5 year old grinds, I meant 20 year laying on the shelf pieces! Back in the 70's I used a Crower big lift roller cam in my 68 Hemi Dart, ran high 9's never had any cam related issues, so I am not commenting on Crower just the difference in modern grinds.Rodger - 2012-11-06 9:06 AM Gary For what year of engine is the Cam to be in ? Expert Posts: 1506 Location: Colo Spgs | Sir Most engines rarely get used past 2200 RPM's once they are in the finnal gear. Also most driving is all done with-in 40 miles of where the vehicle is parked. If the 383 powered vehicle has some weight - has an large frontal wind area or ever get's loaded with weight because you pull an Boat or Camper the Cam Shaft Spec's which have al lot of Duration and Over-lap are not your best performance choice. The same"want some MPG reason's" also apply. Rodger & Gabby COS

Elite Veteran Posts: 888 Location: Peoples Republic of Oregon | Rodger - 2012-11-06 7:46 PM Gary What year of engine and etc is the 383 ? Rodger & Gabby COS I was searching for an off-topic LA engine package and found the discounted B&RB cams and thought that folks here could make use of some inexpensive parts. At the close-out price I bought a couple just to have for replacements. Gary
