| [For '57 Dodge Coronet] I have been having the issue that the rear view mirror no longer wants to stand on its own, every time I drive over the slightest bump in the road it just drops back on the dash. I assume their is some type of of tool that probably exists that tightens these or maybe I need a new one? Any tricks to adjust this? Please advise.
The cigarette lighter has also come loose on me, I was working under the dash and unplugged it, at which point it came loose and just rattles around. It is still in the dash, and can rotate in place. I would have figured it just screwed in place into the dash itself. But seemingly not, I cannot figure out what fastens it in the dash? Some sort of clip I haven't noticed? What am I missing here? |

Location: NorCal | Have you tried tightening the barrel nut around the mirror shaft? Pliers should do the trick.
The lighter receptacle is held in the dash by the round sleeve (see red arrow) behind the dash. Hand tightening is all that's needed.

| Thanks. I did try to tighten the barrel nut and that seemed to work for a while, but then it became loose again. Maybe its out of tolerance, will have to keep working on it. |

Location: So. Cal | I agree. Make sure you have the nylon cone in there, and then put one or two washers underneath it. Make it so that when you tighten the mirror by hand (tight) that it will stay where you put it. |
