Elite Veteran Posts: 655 Location: Finland | I got my Copy from Chrysler...fantastic service... The problem is that I can`t read all rows. Has anybody empty sheets or can anybody send a GOOD photo of a legible one to my email address so I can decode the last digits. The car is a Desoto 1958. These codes are not familiar to me: 431 - IPSC 531 - TIRES 544 - TIRES 562 - NCS Explanation of the codes above would be appreciated. In the upper left corner of the Build Sheet it says: ...CODE and a 6 above the text...I wonder what the word in front of code might be.. Edited by 22mafeja 2020-03-06 4:37 PM

Igor: That link works great. Now where is the link to the 56 Dodge Order Sheets?? (I'm kidding - but I really do wish somebody had 56 Dodge order sheets that they could/would post up).

Elite Veteran Posts: 655 Location: Finland | I can`t believe nobody has an empty broadcast sheet or a really good one from a car (has to be Detroit desoto 1958)? Since mine is really faint I would "paintshop" a sheet and fill in my data. This would be just for me and others in the same situation , I would not get any money from this.

Elite Veteran Posts: 655 Location: Finland | Thank you Igor , but it would have to be either an empty IBM card (if there is in the whole world , is there?) or an original min. 1 Mega picture of a perfecty sharp and flawless card. From that it would be possible to start.

I made a template for the IBM cards 1960 and 1961. This template is made in Microsoft Excel. (IBM-rez.png) Attachments ---------------- IBM-rez.png (120KB - 290 downloads)

Elite Veteran Posts: 655 Location: Finland | Yes Sven , that looks nice. You have surely spent some time with your laptop before that was done. I would like to make something like that for a Desoto 1958. Could you possibly sent a link to the file? That would be greatly appreciated.

Elite Veteran Posts: 655 Location: Finland | My IBM card has a couple of cells which are impossible to read. It is the second row , cell between BODY and PAINT and two cells between ACC and TOP. Some assistance would be appreciated...

Expert Posts: 1897 | . There is a «STYLE» located between «BODY» and «PAINT». It means Paint combos: 1 = Single Paint 2 = Two Tone Paint – Standard 3 = Two Tone Paint – Special 4 = Two Tone Paint – Deluxe 9 = probably a Spring Special Paint 1_AAA = Black Roof – Black Body – Black Insert 2_XAX= White Roof – Black Body – Black Insert 3_AAX = Black Roof – Black Body – White Insert 4_XAA = White Roof – Black Body – White Insert The first cell between «ACC» and «TOP» is a «CUSTOM TRIM» and second, probably «GLAMOUR GROUP» (hard to see) But the codes in order in that part of the build sheet: 311 = Accessory Group No. 1 312 = Accessory Group No. 2 313 = Accessory Group No. 3 314 = Spring Special Package 316 = Glamour Group No. 6 317 = Glamour Group No. 7 319 = Custom Trim Package 321 = Convertible Top Color – Black 322 = Convertible Top Color – White 323 = Convertible Top Color – Blue 324 = Convertible Top Color – Green 327 = Rear Seat Speaker 331 = Manual Antenna 333 = Dual Manual Antennas 334 = Power Antenna

Elite Veteran Posts: 655 Location: Finland | I think you happened to write wrong about the paint combos. I have XHX which is white roof-seacoast aqua body-white insert. That would make it a 2 as combo digit. But there is nothing under ST on the body plate on my car. Seems like that wasn`t always stamped. Another question: Why the link doesn't appear "red"? I'm not sure how you are posting Serge but when I quote you I see way too much html formatting (which is unnecessary here) All I know is when I post links, all I need to do to turn the links "hot" is place my cursor at the end of the link and hit ENTER and go down to the next line. That is what I did above (after removing all the un-wanted html BS). Edited by 56D500boy 2020-04-10 12:06 PM

Elite Veteran Posts: 655 Location: Finland | Fantastic thread Serge , I get humble when I admire that car , your craftmanship and detailing skills! Oustanding... The problem is I haven`t ever seen a 1958 detroit desoto (firedome or fireflite) sheet in decent condition. What I have done is a template anyone may change or improve for themself. I have not even tried to get it 100% right , I accepted that wasn`t possible with my (lack of ) Excel skills.

It was located about a mile SW of the West Warren plant. The West Warren plant was acquired by Chrysler from Graham-Paige Corp in 1948 and Chrysler modified one section of the plant in 1949 to build bodies for the Wyoming plant. In 1952 another area of the plant was used to build DeSoto hemi engines. Engine production came to an end at the end of the 1957 model year and for the 1958 model year DeSoto used the new B block V8 engine built at the Trenton engine plant. Production of DeSoto cars was moved from Wyoming Avenue to East Jefferson for the 1959 model year. Imperial would use the West Warren Avenue plant for the 1959 to 1961 model years. The former DeSoto body line at West Warren was used to build Imperial bodies.
