Elite Veteran Posts: 873 Location: ALABAMA, HEART OF DIXIE | I'm having issues trying to figure out this bracket, (see picture). It mounts with the top left bell housing bolt behind the intake manifold on my 61 318 w/torqueflight. thanks Will. Expert 5K+ Posts: 9911 Location: Lower Mainland BC | . Your photo doesn't help but it is likely part of the connection between the throttle linkage and the throttle pressure linkage down to the Torqueflite. Sometimes we mistakenly call that linkage the "kick down lever"

Elite Veteran Posts: 873 Location: ALABAMA, HEART OF DIXIE | Thank you.... Thats a diffrent setup then in 61. Neither the part book or service manual has a illustration that depicks it. On the 61 the bracket, (14-11-20), has a rod that extends out toward the passenger side to the bracket in question. I think it is to stabalize the linkage to the carburator so not be effected by engine roll. Edited by rockerarm 2021-02-15 5:24 PM

Neither the part book or service manual has a illustration that depicts it Doesn't this show what you are talking about? I'd change that stupid 61 setup to the pre 61 design.

My 61 does not have that style firewall bracket, only one half of that the other end, so to speak, is attached to the engine/bellhousing, constantly flexing the linkage. Actually every 61 I have seen is like that. It is OE but I'm going to change that to the 60 and before setup.

Elite Veteran Posts: 873 Location: ALABAMA, HEART OF DIXIE | The bracket in question is not shown in that illustration. I'll get a good picture next time I go over to the shop where my car is, (250 miles). It dosen't make sense the way it is unless there is another part to the bracket. Worked fine when I took it apart, but that was a couple years ago. Dosen't show up in any of the pictures I took before dissassembly
