Location: Murray Bridge, South Australia | Have sent the chassis to be dipped and restored, during the tear down procedure we removed the tail shaft and bought new universal joints, a new rubber tube seal, clamps and the special bits and pieces, the connection is the ball type and I have tried to remove the pin in the ball but to no avail. I have even used our 30 ton press and still no movement or damage. Is it required to replace the pin or just leave it in? The shaft has been de rusted etch primed and painted in rust not black gloss and is looking pretty good for its age. Also when we removed the plate that holds the grease in around the ball it flowed out black and sticky, is there a special requirement of grease to go back in?
Thanks Guys |

Location: So. Cal | You can replace the boot without removing the pin. The boot is really stretchy so it will go over it without any issue. See this thread.
