Following 56D500boy's lead I will be replacing the PowerFlite in my 56 Dodge C/R with a A466 TorqueFlite. I have acquired all the parts and pieces, Transmission, Push Button Shifter and Face Plate, Cables, etc. I am waiting for bolts that will replace those that now go through the new brackets to hold the crossmember. The new bolts required are longer as they will go through the new bracket and the P/F bracket.

I have been working on the relocation of the rear crossmember as the T/F is 3.5" longer than the P/F. I had my friends at WestKam Iron form a channel out of 10 ga mild steel (x 24" long) to fabricate the brackets that the crossmember bolts into. Then the fun began to copy the angles and cut out the brackets. I have dry fit all the pieces in place. When I receive the 7/16 x 7" bolts I will bolt everything in place for the final time before welding the new brackets to the frame.

A few photos of my progress.

Del: Your solution for re-mounting the transmission crossmember bracket is going to look way more "factory" than my Plan Z. I am impressed.

Also, your solution is going to cost WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY less than what I was charged by the transmission shop to sub-out
the fabbing of the off-set/split crossmember that they "gave" me.

Live and learn (too soon old, too late smart)
