OK, so WAY back in the early 70's, I helped my dad put a variable speed wiper motor and switch in my 64 880. They never parked, just turned off anywhere.
Fast forward to last night. I was looking for the reason the reverse lights didn't work. I found that the wiper switch was not connected properly, and since the reverse lamps pick up power from the wiper switch side of the circuit breaker on the switch, I reconnected the wires correctly. Now I have reverse lights. And also the wipers park. In the UP position. Since the first arm on the motor isn't removable, how is this possible? Maybe the arm pivots are 180 out of position? The illustration in the service manual isn't very clear. Maybe someone had a late Exner car and can post a photo of how is is supposed to look?

Typically you'll adjust the wipers. Unless you arms are wrong.

When in operation at any speed, is the arc of the wiper blades on the windshield correct? If so, the pivot isn't 180 out or the blades would try to drive into the cowl. When the blades park in the "UP" position do they always stop in the same place regardless of their position when the switch is turn to OFF?

If they park in different up positions, you might need to adjust the Park switch in the wiper motor.

the motor has the park mechanism... its going to stop... but you have to adjust your wipers so they are down when they stop.

They always park up. I have to crawl back under the dash, but my thought was if the pivot arms are pointed the opposite direction than intended, it could cause this issue. But maybe there is only room to swing one direction. Maybe when I was 10 (in 1974) I got the links going to the wrong side. same outcome. I just have to get my somewhat larger self back under there and have a look.
