Member Posts: 18 | Obtained this car a couple of years ago when my stepdad pasted. All orginal but thinking of converting the front brakes so I can stop it without white knuckles. Does your car have power or manual brakes? My first suggestion would be either to score a set of 'interim' brake linings from evil-Pay, or from a salvage yard, such as "Big M", here on this website, and/or : (if you can live without your car for a couple weeks, residing either at your home, or residing at a local mechanic's shop) : contact the Firm Feel company and discuss with them the protocols for you to send your car's (OR, the 'spare shoes that you get from the 'Pay, or from Big M !) brake shoe assemblies to them, so that their sub-contractor can bond-onto your "donor" brake shoes new-modern carbon-metallic brake lining material. My own car has mid-60's 11x3" brakes, so, Firm Feel could merely sell me complete brake shoe assemblies, but, for our FWDLK "Lockheed Centerplane" brakes, they need to receive our actual brake shoes, to bond-on that carbon-metallic lining material. Those semi-metallic brakes did tend to squeal, at slow speed stops, for the first 100 miles, or so. You also can check to see if your car's brake drums need to be turned, AND, while the brake shoes are being sent-out to Firm Feel, you should send your single-pot master cylinder 'out' for an overhaul, with steel bushings to be installed in their two orifices, to eliminate any chance of (probably-catastrophic) leakages from occurring. Then, of course, you'll bleed and replace the brake fluid. Synthetic fluid is not really needed, but people will argue that point. Think that you'll like the braking effect of your new brake system. Location: Parts Unknown | 1958 gets my vote for the best FL Dodge (amongst some stiff competition). This car, with some spinners and correct whitewalls would be a top notch example of the best the Forward Look had to offer. Beautiful car !

Firm Feel, and Just Suspension, and Just dashes are class-acts (as are a lot of other suppliers; let's just leave the listing of the other good-companies for the "Vendor's" message board).....

Expert Posts: 2996 Location: Sept. 1958 | In the new issue of Hemmings, it looks like this car is in it. Though it seems sold according to the website. It’s listed as a Coronet but by the photos it looks like a Royal, looks like this car. Maybe someone here or a future member bought it.

Location: The Mile High City | Hi, Matt: I saw that too! Strange it is not on the Hemmings website! If it is the same car, they have upgraded it with wide whites (a good thing)!
