Expert Posts: 1740 Location: Alaska | I was under the impression that all 56 Chrysler products were 12 volt. Was this car a very early build 55?

I think the issue is that it IS NOT a 1956 Imperial. It is a 1955 Imperial = 6V Look at the gear shift (not a 1956 push button) Also headlight, fender and taillight differences: 1955 1956 Edited by 56D500boy 2019-08-10 12:08 AM

Expert Posts: 2003 Location: Branson, MO | "56s had "flat top" wheel openings front and rear where the'55s were full radius. Rear fin is definitely not present on the one listed and pictured for sale. And it does have the shift lever instead of push buttons as 56D500boy pointed out.

I did see but didn't mention the front headlight "door" (bezel) change: 55 was all chrome, 56 was more hooded and body coloured with chrome trim. 55 56

Location: Under the X in Texas | One '56 Imperial model continued the radiused rear wheel wells of 1955. That was the Model C70. The Crown Imperial long wheelbase cars. And it is because the '55 Model 70 body was carried over for use in the 119 Crowns.
