Hi all! I am in the process of cleaning up the firewall on my 1955 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer while the motor is out at the machine shop. I took off the heater box with no problems except at the heater control valve and trying to remove the heater core hoses that were stuck. Gave the box a good cleaning with Purple Power. The heater fan motor was running a bit slow so I took it apart, cleaned the armature and checked the brushes which did not have a lot of wear. Replaced the feed wires and end terminals the the cloth covered wires from Rhode Island Wiring Service. I also put the blower fan wheel in my sand blaster and cleaned it up. Then replated the fan wheel with zinc from Caswell to keep it from rusting. The blower now turns freely and seems to run a lot faster than before. The motor bearings seem to be the Oilite type but I just put a few drops of light weight oil on them which really freed them up. 56D500Boy post "55-56 Heater Related Parts" shows a nice parts layout of the heater of which I removed item 18 (fan box insulation cover/gasket) & 38 (heater core gasket). Are these items being made and where can one buy them. I am missing item #34 (Drip Tube). Any suggestions on what to use to make these items if there are not available.
