Newer tire dates are 4 digit and easy to read like 4413 = 44th week of 2013.

How do you get at date out of this?

On a side note, the Hagerty magazine recently had a story by Jay Leno about when he took a friend for a local ride in one of his cars and promptly blew two aged tires. At the end of the story he acknowledged that most of the cars in his collection had tires that were way past the manufacturer's age limit and he would soon be in the market for about 1200 tires.

If he's getting them from Coker that would be the time to order also if it could be coordinated. It's been reported that Coker has varying quality because about the time the mold gets good & hot the batch tends to end.
