I have a 56 Dodge Custom Royal V8 (D500 hemi in my case). Making sure that the steering is as tight as possible is a good thing.
In the past, I have purchased NOS bare idler arms and hack-around repair kits. Yesterday I found a "kit" on eBay that had the idler arm complete with the
necessary threaded "bushings" for less money than I have paid in the past for just a NOS idler arm.
There are a couple of kits available. One Moog K-149 and one Elgin that looks about the same as the Moog. (I bought one of the Moog kits - seller still has one left).
I did not buy the Moog kit until after I confirmed that the idler arm, PN 1611 209, was the same for both the standard (manual) and power steering 1955-56 Dodge/Plymouth V8s (I have power steering)
There are still a couple of kits available for those that are interested. (I have no financial interest in this, just want to share with fellow/fellette "King Pin Orphan" 55-56 Dodge
and Plymouth owners before the kits are gone.)

The Elgin kit has disappeared. That Moog Kit has sold out.
BUT there are more, just more money:

Good luck.

Picked up the Moog kit that I bought and was pleased that the box had the application list taped to it, like the Elgin kit had.
