Location: Finland		I am curious about how the 3D printing of trim pieces is going...has anybody made something out of stainless with sanding and final polishing?
It would be very interesting to know about the pricing and how much work is needed after the printing.

Location: So. Cal		I've used it for my work. The surface finish is rather poor, but you should be able to polish it. But the real downside is the cost. It isn't cheap. This lid is about 1 inch in size and it cost $180 to print in stainless steel in 2015. The price goes up dramatically as you increase the volume of material.

But if you have a 3D model of a part, CNC mills are very good at reproducing complex parts. They may not be able to create all the features of the knight on a D500 badge, but they could make a large portion of it, and they can probably do it cheaper than a 3D print. The downside is it is still expensive to program the mill & make the fixturing for just one part, so you are much better off if you can use multiples of them.

Location: Finland		When we are talking about stainless the polishing means sanding with at least three grits and then polishing...takes hours.
How is the Desoto 58 rear bumper extension project developing Ed?
