Does anyone have a picture how the outer door handles connect to the door opening mechanism? Especially on a 4dr Sedans?

I think I might have some part missing but did not find a good reference from the parts books or the service manual.

There is an arm that extends off the handle. It has a serrated surface on it that connects with another serrated arm on the door latch. There is a screw that connect them together at the right distance. Often, as things wear, it is necessary to adjust those arms closer together. Sometimes there isn't enough room on the slot to bring them close enough so you have to open up that slot longer with a dremel cutting tool. The serrated arm I am talking about is on the right side of the picture, on this door latch.

Is the same for the rear doors?

I'm not as familiar with the rear doors. I would have to check it out to be sure.

Heikki , I have these latches which I can send you so you can figure out what you need. There are 1 new left , 1 new right and three used ones and some levers.
These are not from a 57 chrysler but most parts are interchangeable such as starwheel rotors which are almost always finished on at least the front doors.
They might seem to be in order but when you check the inner side of the rotors there is often a lot of wear.
We can discuss the (low) price when you have taken what you need. The shipping will be 5e one way.
Are your handles good? I have noticed if you drill away the hinge rivets and replace them with bolts with proper size , then the function improves
You are doing excellent work!

Oh yes! I'll compare the pics and check if I find what's missing from mine.

Probably what is missing is the "link" from rear door handle to the opening mechanism to the door latch. It seems to be figured out in a different way than in the front doors and I'm not quite sure how. Maybe some hook or something like that..

Otherwise the door handles are in good shape and also the latches/locks. Miraculously - the rotors are in good shape too. The car has been driven only 1957-1968, then again 2 years in the 80s and 1 year in the 90s so the doors have not been used so much

But I'll be in touch!
