Sounds like an intermittent short, causing the circuit breaker to pop and reset. I had a rear license plate lamp wire short every time I opened the trunk lid. You may have to separate the different leads to the different lamps to find it..

on the way home from Tampa airport last nite my '74 lights went off for
a split second; then came back on..several minutes later the same thing
happened..again back on in a second..it did it tonite as well..any hints
what is causing this?  thanks!
