Re: IML: 71 auto temp II

On my car they are all white. But yes they are supposed to be one way check valves. I bought myself a vacuum pump(hand held) because I was getting tired of the guess work. Found a lot of things that were not working like they were supposed to.Finally cut one of these stock check valves open and no surprise they don't work. Surprising they work when new. By the way I bought some cheap plastic check valves aftermarket but they also were ####. Paid about $20.00 each for the two from the hydraulic shop but they are real valves. The valves came with threaded ports so I screwed some fittings into ends sealed with teflon tape(plumbers tape) so I could connect vacuum hoses to them. I can go out to the car and try to get a name/part number if anyone wants that info. They are considerably larger than the stock valves and are not a real tidy install but I like having the switching working properly.Pay attention to the book on how these valves are routed(you will need a few T's for connections) and draw a diagram of old valve connections before removing old valves.(easy to get confused)

Are these the 2-tone, green and white one-way vacumn check valves?

"Also there are two vacuum check valves situated along all the
vacuum lines that run from right side of under dash to the temp control.
They are at floor level and they are cheap pieces of ####. I replaced mine
with industrial check valves from a hydraulic shop and finally got my system
working properly. "

Could you elaborate on this point, very interesting to me, having a 73 with AutoTemp II
