The 81-83s use the modern small rotary compressor as made by Sanyo and Sanden - the mounting is completely different. A skilled welder and machinist could make up a bracket to mount one, however, but the Mopar V2 compressor is rock solid reliable, very durable, and available rebuilt at any auto parts place, so why bother. You'll have to completely flush your AC system to get the debris out of the lines, and replace the dryer. Just hope none of the debris got into the expansion valve! Will it bolt right on with the proper bracket(s)? I am going to the junk yard tomorrow to look around as my compressor seized last night.
