Yes, there is an adjustment.  You will need to get the shop manual because there is specific proceedure to follow.  Too many "mechanics" will crank down on the adjuster visable on top of the box, which is only part of the job, and the last part at that.  This will result in failure to actually adjust it, may cause heavier steering, and possible reduction in ability to turn in one direction.

I`m doing a complete restoration on 1950 Imperial and I need some help,my steering "box" has some play,the steering wheel turns like a 1/4 without moving the wheels I`d like to know if possible to adjust it and if so how to do it
