Generally, the year stamped on a lens is the year it was first used.  The
lenses on all 74/75 Imperials and 76-78 NYBs have "74" stamped on them
because that was the first year of that style.

I don't know is these are hard to come by or not. I hardly ever see any of
those cars around any more. Generally, the ones I have seen are real Junkers
& the owners probably wouldn't be interested in new lenses. With the 79
marking on them, I suspect that is the year they fit & possibly used more
then 1 year.
