Re: IML: The first Imperial I ever saw

I was about 6 or 7, and the year was 1964 or 1965. Standing something less
than four feet high, you can imagine where my eye level was. One day I was
standing at the corner waiting for traffic like a good boy when this car
turned in front of me, and there in front of my face was a chrome eagle
with a wingspan the size of a dinner plate. Or at least, it looked that
large to me.

I did not know then that the car was called an Imperial, nor did I care. I
did know that when I grew up I would drive one of those cars with the
dinner-plate size eagles on the back. I forgot about that eagle for a few
decades, and about a year ago I saw a '64 for sale on the side of the road
near where I live. The whole memory came flashing back, and I have not
been the same since.

I did not buy that '64, but I did learn a lot more about those cars with
the giant chrome eagles, and I am lovingly restoring a '66 Crown Coupe that
will be ready next year. Finally.
