Quoting "Johnson, Glen" <GJohnson@xxxxxxxxxxxx>: > I read a lot of the comments on a new Imperial. It is a long long long > shot: > > BUT WHAT IF THEY GOT IT RIGHT! > Glen '65 LeBaron That would be impossible. If they wanted to get it right, they must be willing to accept a huge loss. These corporations don't care about how "good" cars they make, they only care about the profit. And the people that would appreciate real quality would be the vast minority. Lets face it. One of the reasons why the modern cars are plastic is because that's what the public wants. If you would build a car out of real metal and chrome, it would cost, and very few would be willing to pay for it. Very few would be considering keeping a car indefinately, so they would see no value. In fact, many motorists have been convienced that having a car out of plastic and thin metal as opposed to a real car is actually better or safer or whatever. The days when people demanded styling in their cars are over. Now cars are appliances to most people.
