I think a third opinion might be a good idea.  If you
can see that one of the freeze plugs is bent, chances
are pretty good that it's leaking.  Those plugs are
meant to fit pretty tightly in there (remember that
the cooling system is under about 16 psi at operating
temperature) and if they're installed crooked or bent,
they will leak.

Now, I realize that I don't get out much and all, but
I'd sure like to see a good, scientific explanation of
how water can seep through "pores" in a cast iron
block.  ;o)  Cracks, yes, but pores?  Um . . . and
most of those sealants are meant only as a temporary
stop-gap measure, and not a permanent fix.  In fact,
"stop-leak" can cause more problems than it fixes, by
blocking up heater valves or some of the smaller water
passages in the block.

Hang in there -- the 413 is an incredibly durable
engine, and finding one with a cracked block is pretty
rare.  This may turn out to be a relatively simple
fix.
