RE: IML: 61 Transmission Gave Up The Ghost

Sounds more like the shifter than the trans. Even when they are almost completely dead the trans will usually cause *some* change-lower idle, whine, etc. I would check the shift button is engaging. Good luck.

Hi Imler's;

I hope everybody is doing great today. Well, I've got kind of
a dilema on my hands and maybe somebody out there can help me
with on my 61 Imperial.

Today I had to put my daily driver in the shop and when I got home, I was going
to drive my 61 up to the store. When I started up the car and backed it out
of the driveway and then put the car into drive there was no clunk with the
gears that you always hear and the car wouldn't move. I then when I put it into
reverse and I didn't hear any clunk and it wouldn't move. I checked the trans
fluid to make sure it wasn't low and it was right at the full mark. Now the car
is stuck out in the middle of the street in front of my house. The car is just too
heavy to push by myself, so I'll have to wait until some neighbors come home
to help me push it back into the garage. Unfortunately, my driveway is one of
those to where the house sits up on a slight hill with the street below it.

Any help or suggestions from anybody out there would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

John Nimmo
