You may want to consider finding the body shop BEFORE you let them look at 
the car.  The shop will invariably find additional items to fix that relate 
to the accident.  If the shop owner goes over the damages with the adjuster 
you'll be better off.  My girlfriend's Jetta got hit and the adjuster looked 
at it in her driveway. They sent a check for $1,500.   Took it my shop and 
the guy told me to NEVER let them look at the car before the shop sees it.  
He had the company come back out and went over the car with them and they 
came up with $3,800.  I'm sure you'd be better at going over the damage than 
my girlfriend and her mother who was probably rolling spedini and yelling in 
Italian at the time, but it's best to have the person that will do the work 
there.

Anyway, sorry about the loss.  Hearing things like this often paralyze me to 
inaction, which is my biggest problem.
