Perhaps Charles doesn't have the original carburetor with his car (since it appears his PCV fitting isn't there). If that's the case, he is going to have to find one of the hard plastic spacers that were "sandwiched" between the carb and the intake manifold (with gaskets above and below). The right spacer will have the right tube sticking out of it to accept the PCV hose. PCV systems were required on all cars in CA starting in late 61. 49 State cars got them soon after, I think in 1963. They were much maligned in the early days, people insisted they made the cars run crappy and took them off. BIG MISTAKE! They actually were beneficial to the cars, keeping the fumes from condensing inside the engine, causing early sludge, corrosion etc. They also made the cars smell much better, since the blow by was burned and sent out the exhaust pipe instead of up into the engine compartment, a real stinker when the car was stopped. The bad reputation came from folks who added the closed crankcase system (a CA requirement when the car was sold) and didn't realize they had to re-adjust the idle mixture to compensate for the added intake air flow - thus their cars idled poorly. I was here in CA then, and watched all this happening. Much ado about nothing, as usual. O.K. I went out to my car and looked at where the PVC valve goes. It connects to the carb directly between the two adjuster screws in the center front of the carb. I hope this helps Chris M. 63 Custom 2 dr. ----- Original Message ----- From: "DR CHALLENGER" <drchallenger@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, May 11, 2005 10:51 AM Subject: Re: IML: 63 carb PCV hose? > the first year i find a listing for a pcv value is 1966 > > >From: RandalPark@xxxxxxx > >> > >1963 does have a PCV Valve from the factory.
