IML: Another Valve Train Question

How much wear on the rocker-arm-to-rocker-shaft surface is acceptable?  My
440 measures (with a caliper) about 31/32" ID on the horizontal and about 1"
on the vertical surfaces.  The oiling groove looks about 1/32" deep.  Will
new lifters take up this slack?  I would appreciate hearing recommendations
& experiences.................James
