I recall these now that I looked at the 65 brochure & seeing the one in the 66. I think it is a nice design & can understand why Daniel is so disappointed. Too bad he didn't have that photo to send along instead of purchasing on the phone. Things may have turned out better.

There is a '66 Imperial that came up on Ebay today. The picture of the inside of the trunk shows the original spare with the correct '66 whitewall style.

In general, a lot of grief can be saved by the buyer knowing EXACTLY
what they want & being sure they convey that info to the seller. Where
possible, the best way here is with the Chrysler part number. A good example
is one time I thought I wanted a trunk lock for a 60 Imperial. That's what I
asked for without using a part number. What I received was indeed a trunk
lock. What I really wanted was a lock cylinder. I could only blame myself on
that one. My next purchase was a 60 parts book.

Are these radials or bias ply tires? If they are radials, I might be
interested depending on the price. I have a '68 that needs a set of tires.


It could be that I am not as precise as you, but without checking into it
carefully, it has seemed to me that 1965 through 1968 used the same triple
band (first thin- second thinner-third thin like the first) white wall
Goodyear Power Cushion 9.15 X 15 bias ply tire. In 1969, they used the
dual band (one thick and one very thin). I have seen triple band and dual
band white walls where all bands are the same thickness. These would not
be technically correct on any Imperal.


Can you describe the tires that you have, and the difference that you are
looking for with a bit more detail?

Imperials. My order with Diamond Back Tires of South Carolina resulted in

great dissapiontment when I received tires that would be perfect for a '67
or later Imperial (concentric treatment occurs closer to center) but not
correct for a '65. Plese know the tires are excellent and beautiful but
simply not what I specified OVER THE PHONE.
I have now placed a standing order with Diamond BackTire for the tire I
hope for, only this time I have forwarded a rubbing from an original tire
and provided detailed measurement and notations to serve as a guard
against
any misunderstanding. I will also require a scale diagram / proof of the
configuration before authorizing manufacture.
Does any one out there need perfect tires for their '67 or '68 Imperial ?
