Before removing your windshield to restore your dash be sure and 
dissassemble as much possible to remove the dash with the windshield IN!  
I've done this twice in my history and discoved (I had three '55 Imperials) 
that there were two models of metal dash that were used in 1955!  A surprise 
but true!  one example had wings which were very difficult to maneuver out 
and back into place via the interior.  The other had no wings and was a 
breeze to simply pull forward once trims and attaches were loosened.  I 
dealt with both these dashes without removing the windshields!
