Re: IML: In defense of "customs" what happened after '63

After '63, there were only Crowns and LeBarons, until the '67 models came out. That year, as we all know, they re-introduced a "standard" Imperial Sedan but refrained from calling it a Custom. As with the Custom, it did not sport leather upholstery, but could be had with practically all the options. I think that power windows were standard, although suddenly there were big cranks for the manual vent windows, instead of the delicate and attractive looking "knuckle busters".

For some reason, a similar Imperial was offered in 1968, but I believe that they decided to call it a Crown Sedan. At that point, we were back to all Crowns and LeBarons again, until the Crowns finally went away, and all that was left were LeBarons.

This Customer was loaded with every option offered with the exception of the gas fired heater; far more loaded than my Crown Coupe of the same year. ?It just depended on what options you wanted to pay for. ?It's not clear why someone would purchase the loaded Custom instead of the LeBaron, in my opinion. ?I have certainly seen my share of low optioned LeBarons, as well.
