Thanks for pointing this out. I probably wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't. It truly is a beautiful car, and refreshingly, it reminds me of why I liked these cars when they were new! Seeing the dash lite up, with everything so clean and crisp, makes it stand out as a great example of early 1980's technology. I wonder about the seller's claim that "Imperials had never been built like this before". Although no doubt correct, I don't believe that the measure of quality control was what made it unique. For many years Imperials were subjected to a series of checks, some sort of road test(maybe some years more than 5.5 miles), and a final polish before shipment. What he didn't mention was the rumor that I was once told that these cars were shipped to the dealer individually wrapped in a fleece lined blanket. If true, that would surely have been unique among other Imperials, except possibly for the Crown Imperial Ghia Limo' models. I am only guessing that any might have been shipped that way. I believe that all Imperials were built to high standards of quality. I think what made these cars particularly special was the revival of the Imperial name once again as the company flagship offering, in a truly comparable package, that rivaled the contemporary Lincoln Continental and Cadillac Eldorado luxury car offerings. This was at a time when our favorite company and automaker could have gone out of business. I am happy to have the chance to see one of this vintage that has been so perfectly preserved. Paul W.
