Re: IML: '65 Crown Coupe Ordered New w/300L 413!!!

Thanks for bringing this information to the attention of the List members, Paul! If you remember, I posted a question quite a while back asking if one could have ordered a new Imperial with the 300L motor or if anyone knew of one that had been built at the factory that way. At the time of my question, no one had ever heard of any and the thread faded away. I am very happy to know there is at least one other '65 Imperial out there with the 413 built to the specs. of the 300L's 413! When I had my '65 Crown convertible's factory 413 rebuilt, I had the machine shop follow the 300L's specs. I also found an original carb. from a 300L and had the List's very own Robert Soule rebuild it. A 5,345 lb. car can use all the help it can get to move away from a standing start a little faster! The standard 413 is NO slouch in the performance dept. but the convertibles are SO heavy with the 'X' frame that was used, I was happy to be able to get the additional 20 bhp! I may not be able to 'leave rubber on the street' but I do hope it will have a little more ZIP!!!!! LOL!

Speaking of production data, there is an interesting 1965 Crown Coupe on Ebay. It looks to be low miles, clean, very original, and is in the rare Black Plum monotone color scheme.

More importantly, it seems to be one of the VERY FEW Imperials that I have ever heard of that was ordered from the factory with a Letter Series Chrysler 300 (in this case 300L) motor. The data plate is pictured, and the information seems confirmed by a reliable source.

Check it out!
