I wish this mailing list would move from email to a web-based forum.

Threads such as the blinker-fluid joke become tiresome for some but not
for others. In a web forum it would be a lot easier for people to
ignore things they don't like or aren't interested in than it is when
there are 10 emails about blinker fluid or stinky cars in the in box.
And the blinker-fluid enthusiasts could go on to their hearts' content.

This list is moderated nicely but by the time the moderators step in
people have already been annoyed and/or offended. And once an email is
sent out it can't be recalled. So in cases where someone loses their
grip and sends out a really nasty remark it can't be pulled.

A fair number of folks drop out of the list because of the volume of
emails it generates. There is a digest mode but it's not very good for
actually participating in a conversation.

A couple of forums I follow are at www.dealmac.com and
www.hyperscale.com. Both of them work quite well in terms of being able
to follow and participate in discussions and they're both sensibly
moderated.

I'm just tossing this out; I hope it doesn't open a can of worms.

I wholeheartedly agree with the list of Imperial related threads.

I would also add that if there were no threads about blinker fluid, what I like or don't like about Imperials , or dare I say it what to call a certain era of imperial this would be a dull list indeed.
I recently dropped from another mailing list because it seemed to be no more than an electronic parts hunt combined with a heads up to e-bay auctions .
I would sure hate to see this list become that
Of course this is just my .02 cents worth of opinion.

Well, Mikey, try these few general threads on for size for Imperial-related threads that never tire me:

1. Repair Problems

2. Diagnostic techniques, especially electrical

3. Parts Sources

4. Vendor Ratings (good, bad, indifferent, comments)

5. Special Tools -- Sources and Alternatives

6. Safety-Related Topics (e.g., dangers of split p/s hoses)

7. Tune-up Tips

8. "What went wrong and how I finally fixed it...."

9. Cars for Sale

Give me as many e-mails as you want on such topics as these, and forget the blinker fluids and the muffler bearings which do nothing to enhance my understanding of Imperials or their maintenance.

Best regards, Jim

From Mikey....

While its certainly true I was definetly an instigator of the blinker fluid
, and that I have on more than one occasion contributed to my share of
threads, flame wars and off topic items, I would just like to know WHAT
threads people DONT get tired of! If we could get a list of just those
topics then Im sure we could collectively beat those horses to death as
well. :)

Thanks

Mikey
