It may be splitting hairs but I don't think this is correct. There were a number of years in the 80s that there was a RWD 5th Ave as well as a FWD New Yorker. Yes, early on there was the same car, a RWD New Yorker 5th Ave but this didn't continue when the New Yorker became FWD. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul Volkmann" <blackplumcoupe@xxxxxxxxx> To: <mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, October 07, 2005 1:30 AM Subject: Re: IML: Imperial & New Yorker of late 80's and '90-'93 Actually, the 'M' body (Diplomat/Gran Fury/Fifth Avenue) lasted from '82-'89, the FWD 'C' body (Dynasty/New Yorker) appeared in '88 and then was stretched in '90 for the 'Y' body (Fifth Avenue/Imperial). During the 80s the Fifth Avenue was an 'M' body (RWD - derived from the '77-'81 LeBaron) while the New Yorker was an 'E' class (variation of the FWD LeBaron that appeared in '82) NOTE: No matter what year/body/drivetrain layout the Fifth Avenue is actually referred to as New Yorker Fifth Avenue I also view my LHS as a Fifth Avenue with the wrong name as the Fifth Avenue was just a notch above New Yorker --- but that's another discussion Paul '65 Purple Coupe ----------------- http://www.imperialclub.com ----------------- This message was sent to you by the Imperial Mailing List.
