Hi, Michael --
There's something about '65s that makes them kind of an orphan year. Last year for the 413, middle year of the body style, whatever. In any case, of the three years from '64 to '66 there seems to be the least interest in the "middle child".
$500 for a complete car is demo derby bait. The participant will sell the drive train and as much trim as he can to recoup his acquisition cost and have a solid car to build for the arena. If you want to save it, you should jump on it.
Parts cars are worth what the buyer perceives as value. If it's got what you need, it's worth the price. I bought a '66 complete and running for $1000 because I needed the parts.
I think the seller is asking a reasonable price for a quick sale, and if I needed both I would offer $750 for the package and ask that the seller throw in any spare parts he has lying around. If the restorers don't get these cars, the derby guys will.
Happy motoring,
