Re: IML: License Plates in California



get it re-plated and start fishing in the plates box
at the local swap-meet for appropriate ones.  Some
folks can tell the prefix that would have been correct
for your year car, and get a decent pair.  You can
then graft them onto the car once it is registered to
you if the plates you get are "clean", and coming out
of a box means that they have probably been out of
circulation for more than the 3 years that DMV keeps
them on record.
