For the fuselage era Imperials, the front front clip is the major
difference.  It is 3" longer, as you noted, with 3" longer torsion bars
along with different front steering and suspension bits.   These are
differnt to due to both the extra length and the extra weight.   Some small
iterms, such as the torsion bat anchor lock, are the same for all C body
cars, from Fury through to Imperial.   The 1969 Imperial used the infamous
Budd brakes for one last year. Starting with 1970, Imperials used the same
Kelsey-Hayes single-piston disc brake set up as the Chrysler, Polara/Monaco
and Fury.  All sheetmetal, front bumper and grille are unique to the
Imperial.

The rear axle is shared with the other C body cars, although the driveshaft
is not.   The rear brakes are larger than the Chrysler, again due to the
extra size and weight of the Imperial, although the brake pedal, booster,
etc. is common to all C body cars.   The Wheel Skid Control system is unique
to Imperial.  The vacuum realease for the Imperial was not used on any other
Mopar car, but the rest of the parking system is shared with Chrysler, and
except for the front cable, with Plymouth and Dodge.  Wheels were unique to
Imperial, with the 1969 models having a different bolt pattern.

At the rear end, the sheet metal is close to what was used by Chrysler, but
the side marker lights are different and there may be differences to accept
the different rear fender extensions.  The trunk lid, rear bumper and
taillights are all unique to the Imperial.   Except for the rear trunk
extensions, the Imperial floor pan is shared with Chrysler, and except for
the rear floor pan extensions, with Plymouth and Dodge.   Side rocker panels
are shared with Chrysler, as are the doors, door lccks, door handles, door
glass, window regulators, roof, and windshield.   The 1969-70 Crown shares
its rear window with the Chrysler.  The small rear window on the LeBaron is
accomplished by using a fibreglass filler that is screwed in place and is
used for the smaller rear glass.  Which is why LeBarons all came with a
padded vinyl roof - to hide the filler, screws and joint.

On the interior, the basic instrument panel is shared with Chrysler. long
with the pad.  Difference include some of the facing panels to as the
Imperial had a more expensive 'look', accept more switches.  The
speedometer, clock and instruments were different, again basically cosmetic
differences.   The radio face plates were different, and there was even a
unique cover for the Imperial if the owner ordered the car without a radio.
Less than a hundred or so were ordered with no radio, during the fuselage
era.

The seats were unique to the Imperial, although I believe the actual seat
frames were shared with Chrysler and Dodge.   Door panels are unique to
Imperial, with the Imperial having a more complex set up to accept the arm
rests with storage bins and different controls for the power windows, locks
and mirrors,

Mechanically, the Imperial shared its 440-cid V8 engine and Torqueflite
transmission with the rest of the company.

That, basically, lists the differences and similarities.    There are too
many parts to list them all and whether or not they are shared with
Chrysler, etc. b ut the above should be a good guide when looking for parts.

Hi folks,

>From the literature I've got it seems Imperials have a 127 inch wheelbase
while the Chryslers have 124 inches. To me they look the same.
Where are the cars actually different? Which parts won't interchange? Can
you put a 1970 Imperial front and rear fender on a Newport or a 300? What
about the interior?
