Raw gas is the smell of gas as if you had poured it onto the engine from a gas can. Don't do this. You smell it when you have a leak in the fuel system -fuel line, fuel pump, carb etc.

Since it seems like you really don't know the
answer to this question, I will say that it is
unburned, and just as it came from the pump at
the gas station.

Raw gas smell is from different causes than
burned gas smell, so this term is used to help
isolate a fuel problem.
