I haven't been following this thread, so I may be duplicating someone else's input, but I want to point out that 99.937% of leaks in flared fitting connections are caused by a hairline crack in the flared end of the line. The right way to cure it is to replace the line or, if you have some spare length and the right tools, cut it off with a tubing cutter and re-flare the end with your flaring tool. Regarding flaring tools, should someone be moved to go buy a set, be sure you understand the difference between the "double flare" as used on brake lines, and the "single flare" as used on low pressure lines (like fuel lines). The tools and the procedure are different for the two types.
