59-61 are the cast-iron torque flight. 1962 saw the intro of an aluminum body.

This is a VERY heavy animal that will be expensive to ship. If you can find one floating around near you, you'll be ok, but beware of shipping costs.

My advice would be to instead buy a trans kit to have on hand to allow you to throw your car at a trans shop (complete with the "rare" parts) that you've scouted out ahead of time and qualified as torqueflight-competent shop.

That way you don't have to warehouse such a cumbersome item. Your car's unit is likely very rebuildable.

Can someone tell me what year and/or model vehicles have the same transmission (i.e. they can be easily interchanged) as a 1959 Imperial? For instance will the 1959 New Yorker interchange? What year Imperials will easily interchange?
I am beginning to have problems with mine and, although it may run for many more years and miles I thought about finding another, overhauling it and then installing it. It may be the best of both worlds!
Thanks for any advice.
