IML: upper steering column bearing

Hi All,
  Has anybody replaced the upper bearing in the steering column?
can this be done with the column in the car?

in other news, my former '81 with the 360 is out there on ebay,
he seems to represent it pretty honestly (if somewhat enthusiastically)
