Re: IML: Headers No... OEM Exh Manifolds Yes

Hola James

Due to the design of the 1957 to 1966 "D" bodied Imperials the exhaust
manifolds are all center dump. If you seek a set of shortie block huggers the cost
vs the results are not worth the HP gain.

MoPar continued with the power search with the other series of vehicles
through the exhaust manifolds starting in 1967 with the magnum's, TNT's or whatever
each division may have called the HP 383 or the HP 440. All Imperials from
1967 to about 1972 can benefit from the HP exhaust manifolds. From about 1972
until the last Imperial of 1978 the exh was a much better flowing unit.

Now back to the earlier "D" model Imperials with the very restrictive ctr
dumps. The Dodge trucks with either the 400 or the 440 from 1972 until 1978 all
use an exh manifold that will bolt to any 1959 to 1965 413 or 1966 440. (

exh manifold bolts to the engine and fits the space on the driver's side for
some low cost bolt on HP. Add dual exhaust, either the "X" or antique "H" and
you have a hot going Imperial that gets better emissions and MPG too. Do not
let the muffler guy talk ya into a set of short mufflers, stick with the long
ones. If they have a had time under standing you say like a Chry 300 of 1963 or
whatever.
