Check the brake light switch on the brake pedal. Sometimes they get sticky, 
and can work again with some WD-40. The other component I would suspect 
(assuming the wiring, fuses and bulbs are all ok) would be the dreaded turn 
signal switch, or in technical terms, the Brake Light Canceller Switch.

If you sometimes get the sudden urge to run around naked,
drink some Windex:  It will keep you from streaking.
